In days-gone-by if you wanted to broadcast professional looking video interviews on the TV or Stream to the internet, you had to fork out big bucks for equipment and software. Have you noticed that models or important people in photographs often-times look a lot better in print versus seeing them in person? This is usually attributed to airbrushing touch up done on the pictures before printing them. Now, the average person can do the same thing with his/ her photographs using Portrait Professional.

If you are a professional or an avid amateur film maker, you probably own high-end editing software like Apple’s Final Cut Studio. But if you are a hobbiest who makes the occasional movie, you probably don’t want to spend the big bucks for editing or special effects software. Now with iMovie and the Elasty HD software you can have the next best thing for a reasonable price. What is Elasty HD? It is a program that lets you manipulate your movie in quite a few different ways...

Morph Age is a program that will Morph images together - similar to the morphing faces in Michael Jackson’s Black and White video. In addition, Morph Age will Warp (deform) a single image - treating it like clay that can be pushed and pulled to distort its image. The resulting morph/warp can be saved as a still image or as a QuickTime movie. BTW: The Pro version will also let you morph between two QuickTime movies.

On Saturday April 3, I bought a 16GB iPad from Voelker Research. My observations thus far: 1. It’s gorgeous. The screen’s look and feel seems like a miniature iMac as I don’t have a portable. 2. One of the first things I wanted was a case to protect my iPad. So I went to the Macsuperstore and Best Buy ...

When I took architecture classes, we had to establish vanishing points, horizons, and the height of the viewer. We used pushpins and string to transfer locations of objects onto the drawing. T-squares have been replaced by computer graphics and static interior views are now 3D. What is new is creating a path in the drawing to simulate a person walking through a room with a video camera and looking at the viewfinder display. It has been several years since I reviewed programs that allowed a person shopping for new kitchen cabinets to see how they would look in their kitchen using a simulation. Things have really improved but it does take a lot more time to get as detailed as Live Interior 3D allows.

With the introduction of Apple’s Time Machine you may wonder if there is a place for a backup program. The answer is Yes. Time Machine is good at what it does, but it is not designed for long-term archiving and is minus some of the bells and whistles of a dedicated backup program. Enter Get Backup from BeLight Software...

...I use a product called iBiz from IGG Software to track the time spent and money earned on various projects for clients. It works pretty well for me, so I set out to try their financial software, iBank, as a replacement for Quicken. If iBank isn’t the best financial tracking software for the Mac, it isn’t because their people aren’t trying their best to make it so. In my three+ month relationship with it, I have given up twice only to restart and be more impressed with the bug fixes and new features...
