Apple Pages problem

Macintosh Software

I need help. I can't use InDesign for the club newsletter any more so I am trying to change over to Apple's Pages. Problem is, I am new to Pages, I haven't bought a Pages manual yet, and the Help file isn't helping.

Does anyone know how to make bookmarks and hyperlinks in the page layout side of Pages? The Help instructions works fine on the Word Processing side, but not in the layout side. FYI: When I go to the inspector's Bookmark tab, the "+" is dimmed, so I can't proceed.

The hyperlinks that are in the Tidbits articles that come from the Internet arrive complete- so I don't have to do anything to them. My problem: I need to find a way to make links within the document (like I had in InDesign). So that when you click on a Title on the first page (such as "Meeting Minutes"), the document will jump to that page (when I save the NL as a pdf).

(BTW: If possible, please answer right away. I am working on the NL now and want to post it shortly)

Thanks, LD

InDesign?

What happened LD, did your version of ID die? Why can't you use it. I am sure the board would help you get a new version.

Incompatible

I have InDesign CS and it doesn't work on an Intel Mac running Snow leopard. I am trying to learn Pages to see if I can simulate InDesign. So far some things are the same, some are better, some are worse.

I couldn't afford to pay for the upgrade for myself since I only use it for the newsletter. And I was hesitant to ask the club to pay for something that I would be the only one using.

Pages for the News Letter

LD, This is on the agenda for the Board, and we will discuss upgrading you to inDesign that will run under Snow Leopard.  Neither Pages nor MS Word are any match for inDeisgn when it comes to layout.  inDesign is made for news letter layouts, Word and Pages are made for writing term papers.  Can you please find out how much an upgrade to a version of inDesign that would run on your new Mac would cost?  Email me the cost and we'll see what the Board can do.  We meet next week.

Thanks for all your great work on the newsletter.

InDesign upgrade

Thanks Jeff, and to you LD, I think we can accommodate you. The board will vote. You have a vote from me.
